Qualifications
Graduated from Christian Medical College, Panjab, India in 1975 and obtained postgraduate degree in Medicine (MD) in 1979. Trained in Neurology at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India and received the degree of DM in the speciality of Neurology from the same institute in 1983. Awarded Commonwealth fellowship for training in Epilepsy and EEG for a year in Maudsley and King’s College Hospital in 1992-93

Special clinical interests
Actively involved in the organisation of XIVth World Congress of Neurology, New Delhi, India, 1989 and worked in the capacity of Assistant Secretary and member of the Scientific Committee. Joint Secretary of the 1st International Conference on Organisation and Delivery of Neurological Services, New Delhi, India, 1994 and was Secretary of Epilepsy Subsection, Indian Academy of Neurology. Examiner for MD (Medicine) and DM (Neurology) in India and MD (Paediatrics), University of Cape Town, South Africa. Appointed Senior Clinical Teacher in Neurology, University of Wales, Cardiff. Served as Associate Editor of Neurology India, the official journal of Neurology Society of India. Assistant Editor of World Neurology, a publication of World Federation of Neurology.

Research Interests
Member of Association of British Neurologists and South West England Neurologists Association. Appointed member of the Research Group – Tropical Neurology, World Federation of Neurology. Fellow of Royal College of Physicians in 2005. Fellow of the Indian Academy of Neurology, member National Academy of Medical Sciences, life member Neurological Society of India. National Scholarship holder throughout the MBBS course and was awarded Allen Pollock Memorial prize for Surgery and second prize for Midwifery in 1974-75. Awarded E Merck’s Gold Medal for best research paper in 38th Annual Conference of Neurology Society of India in 1988. Honoured with a silver plaque and citation for organisation of XIVth World Congress in Neurology, 1989. Involved in the clinical drug trials for Epilepsy. He has co-edited eight books, published 83 papers and contributed 21 chapters to books. He has guided 10 theses – DM Neurology – 1, PhD – 1,M Sc – 2 and MD Medicine – 6.

Promoted to the post of Assistant Professor in 1986, rose to the position of Additional Professor of Neurology in 1990 and held this position till September 1998 before the appointment of Consultant in Neurology in Morriston Hospital, Swansea, U.K.
